Got the Monday blues?? Not us! We've been tackling them with these simple tricks to get us loving Mondays again (and it doesn't involve getting a new job).
Plan and prepare. If you know Mondays are a struggle to get yourself going, make it easy for yourself. Set your clothes out the night before. Wash your hair on Sundays. Make breakfast and lunch in advance. Pack your work bag before bed. This will also help you sleep easier knowing everything is ready and waiting.
Give yourself some 'me time'. Put an hour aside in the day where you are going to do something totally focused on yourself. It might be looking for holidays, meditating, going for a walk, calling your best friend for a catch up or going for a coffee.
Exercise. Exercise is a great way to clear your mind and make yourself feel better from all the happy hormones that are released. Try to keep it fun and easy, don't aim for a PB this time!
Get a good nights sleep. Weekends can sometimes be heavy, and even if there not, we have a tendency of staying up late. So get an early night and catch up on those Zzzz's you might have missed. You'll feel better for it in the morning.
Drink plenty of water. This will help you keep your mind clear and focussed. Dehydration can make you feel tired and lethargic- the last thing you want to feel on a Monday.
Use your Friday's wisely. If you find yourself shutting down early from work on a Friday, you can usually end up thinking "I'll leave that till Monday". All that will do is make you think about it over the weekend or when you are trying to sleep on Monday night. You'll have enough to do on Monday as it is, so just get it done on Friday and it's one less thing to worry about.
Communicate. Talk to your colleagues, friends, family, partner, Dog, anyone who will listen. This is a great distraction tactic to reminisce about the weekend and engage with others to keep you mind off hating Mondays.
Turn those Monday blues into Magic Mondays!
